About this Wine:
I don't usually enclose technical details of a wine but this one is different. I've been Tain-l'Hermitage - I've climbed the Hermitage Hill and overlooked these vineyards - an unbelievable sight - they've literally been growing Syrah for centuries in these ancient communities and they've perfected it. Can't wait for you to try it - not only for the taste which is fantastic but also for the history and the roots of wine that it represents.

Producer: Olivier Dumaine
Village: Larnage, 7 km north from Tain-l’Hermitage.
Vines: 100 % Syrah, 62 years old vines.
Soil: Granite and Kaolin clay.
Yield: 40 ha/hl
Production: Only 250 cases
Vinification: Hand harvested, 50% of crop de-stemmed. Maturation at controlled
temperatures. Racked twice, maturation in Burgundy barrique (used for
three vintages) for nine months. Fined with egg whites, no filtration.

Wine Spectator Tasting Notes:
This has a tasty, briary mix of red cherry, bitter orange, tobacco and violet flavors that push through the light toasty finish.
